SSS – Requirements

Notice of Sickness

A Notice of Sickness is an official notification submitted to SSS by employers or voluntary members to inform them of the member’s illness. For employed members, employers must file this notice within five days of the member’s illness or confinement.

Failure to file the notice on time may result in denial of reimbursable sickness benefits, even if the employee qualifies. This highlights the importance of employer compliance.

Voluntary and self-employed members must file their own Notice of Sickness directly with SSS, supported by medical documents. Prompt filing ensures smooth processing and prevents disputes.
