Qualifying Period

-

SSS generally checks if you have at least 3 posted monthly contributions inside this qualifying period.

Step 3: Enter MSC or Contribution Amounts

Enter either your Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) or your contribution amount. The fields will auto-sync. For maternity benefit computation, MSC is capped at 20,000.

Need extra funds while waiting?

SSS maternity benefit processing and document review can take time. If you need backup funds for hospital bills, medicines, checkups, or recovery expenses, you can check this option.

What to do next

If your estimate shows a possible benefit, check your posted contributions and prepare the documents SSS may require for miscarriage, stillbirth, or emergency termination of pregnancy.

1. Check posted contributions
Make sure the contribution months inside your qualifying period are posted in My.SSS.
2. Prepare medical proof
Prepare the medical certificate, hospital record, ultrasound, or other documents requested for your case.
3. File through the correct route
Employees usually coordinate with the employer. Voluntary, self-employed, OFW, or separated members may need to file directly through SSS channels.

If you did not qualify based on the entries

Based on the values entered, there are fewer than 3 contribution months inside the qualifying period. Future or late payments usually cannot change the result for a miscarriage, stillbirth, or ETP that already happened.

Do not guess yet: First check your My.SSS record. Some contributions may be posted under a different applicable month than expected.

SSS maternity benefit for miscarriage: quick answer

For miscarriage, stillbirth, or emergency termination of pregnancy, the SSS maternity benefit is commonly computed using 60 days. The qualifying period is based on the month when the event happened.

This is different from a normal delivery or cesarean delivery because those cases use a longer number of compensable days.

What if you did not file MAT-1 before miscarriage?

Many members only find out about MAT-1 after the miscarriage or ETP already happened. If this is your situation, do not stop at the calculator result. Check what filing route, documents, and explanation may be needed for your case.

How to compute SSS maternity benefit for miscarriage

The basic computation is: get the six highest Monthly Salary Credits inside the qualifying period, divide the total by 180, then multiply by 60 days.

Simple formula

Sum of six highest MSCs ÷ 180 × 60 days = estimated SSS maternity benefit for miscarriage.

What date should you use?

Use the actual month and year of the miscarriage, stillbirth, emergency termination of pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, or hydatidiform mole. Do not use the original expected delivery date once the event already happened.

The event month decides the semester of contingency. The 12 months before that semester become the qualifying period.

Are miscarriage, stillbirth, and ETP requirements the same?

They are similar because they are all under SSS maternity benefit and commonly use the 60-day computation, but the supporting documents are not always the same.

Miscarriage / ETP / ectopic pregnancy / H-mole

SSS may ask for proof of pregnancy and proof of termination of pregnancy, such as a physician-signed pregnancy test, ultrasound, histopathology report, operating room record, medical certificate, records of consultation, clinical abstract, or discharge summary, depending on the case.

Stillbirth / fetal death

SSS may ask for a Certificate of Fetal Death from the LCR, PSA, or Philippine Embassy/Consulate if abroad, depending on when and where the filing is made.

Tip: Use this calculator for the estimate, but check the exact document list before filing because SSS may request different proof depending on the case and timing of filing.

Simple Taglish guide

Need extra funds while your claim is being processed?

If you are dealing with hospital costs, medicines, follow-up checkups, or recovery expenses, you may need a backup fund while waiting for SSS processing.
