Need backup funds while waiting for SSS loan release?
SSS salary loan approval and crediting may still take time. If you need a temporary emergency backup, compare your options carefully. A credit card can help only if you can repay on time and avoid unnecessary interest.

How the SSS Salary Loan Estimate Works
The calculator first checks whether you meet the contribution requirements, then estimates your possible loan using your 12 latest actual posted Regular SSS Monthly Salary Credits (MSCs).
- 36–71 total posted contributions: up to 1× the rounded average MSC, capped at ₱20,000.
- 72 or more total posted contributions: up to 2× the rounded average MSC, capped at ₱40,000.
- Recent requirement: at least 6 contributions must be posted within the 12 calendar months before filing.
- Amount basis: unpaid months are skipped, so older posted MSCs may be used to complete the 12 latest records.
SSS Salary Loan Interest Rate and Fees in 2026
Salary Loan interest is computed on a diminishing principal balance, so interest is based on the remaining balance as it decreases.
| Standard annual interest | 8% for an initial Salary Loan and qualifying renewals without penalty-condonation availment during the previous 5 years. |
|---|---|
| Certain loan renewals | 10% when penalty condonation was used within the previous 5 years. |
| Service fee | 1% of the approved loan amount. |
| Repayment term | 24 equal monthly amortizations. |
| Late-payment penalty | 1% per month, computed according to the number of days delayed. |
SSS may also deduct pro-rated interest and any applicable outstanding balance from previous member loans before releasing the proceeds. The calculator currently estimates the standard 8% annual rate; your official SSS Disclosure Statement shows the final rate, deductions, effective interest rate, and monthly payment.
Review the official SSS Salary Loan page for the latest terms.
Who May Qualify for an SSS Salary Loan?
Meeting the total contribution count is only the first check. You must also satisfy the recent-contribution requirement and other SSS application conditions.
- At least 36 total posted contributions for the lower loan tier.
- At least 72 total posted contributions for the higher loan tier.
- At least 6 posted contributions within the 12 calendar months before filing.
- Employer certification, loan status, contribution posting, and disbursement-account requirements may still affect approval.
Why Your Loan May Be Lower Than Expected
- Your average Regular SSS MSC from the 12 latest posted records is below the ₱20,000 computation cap.
- You have 36–71 total posted contributions, so the estimate uses only 1× the rounded average MSC.
- The contribution amount was entered using the wrong employee-share or total-contribution setting.
- Service fee, pro-rated interest, or an outstanding previous loan balance reduces the amount released.
Application Problems and Next Steps
These guides cover the most common problems after checking your estimate:
SSS Salary Loan FAQ
You need at least 36 total posted contributions for the lower loan tier. At least 72 total posted contributions allows the higher tier. The calculator determines the tier automatically; you do not need to choose a loan type.
You also need at least 6 posted contributions within the 12 calendar months before the application month. After checking your estimate, use the SSS Salary Loan Hub for related guides about release, voucher, statement, and employer certification issues.
You need at least 6 posted contributions within the 12 calendar months before the month of filing. For example, if you apply in March 2026, the eligibility window is March 2025 to February 2026.
Older posted contributions cannot replace the 6 required recent contributions for eligibility. However, older posted MSCs may be used to complete the separate set of 12 latest posted MSCs used to estimate the loan amount.
The 6 recent contributions are used only to check eligibility. For the amount, the calculator uses the member's 12 latest actual posted Regular SSS MSCs. If only 6 are recent, older posted MSCs may complete the twelve. The year is requested so the correct historical contribution rate can be used.
The calculator adds the 12 actual posted MSCs, divides their total by 12, and rounds the average to the next higher applicable Regular SSS MSC.
If you are an employee or kasambahay, enter only your employee share or the amount deducted from your payslip. Do not add the employer share because the calculator already interprets the contribution field based on your selected member type.
If you only know the full contribution or MSC, you can still enter the MSC field directly. To understand employee share versus total contribution better, use the SSS Contribution Calculator.
The calculator averages your 12 latest actual posted Regular SSS MSCs, rounds the average to the next higher applicable MSC, and automatically applies 1× for 36–71 total posted contributions or 2× for at least 72 total posted contributions.
It also estimates the service fee, net proceeds, total payable, and 24-month amortization schedule. If you are checking what happens after approval, read how many days SSS salary loan release may take after approval.
With 36–71 total posted contributions, the estimate may be up to 1× your rounded average MSC, capped at ₱20,000. With at least 72 total posted contributions, it may be up to 2× the rounded average MSC, capped at ₱40,000. The actual estimate still depends on your 12 latest posted Regular SSS MSCs.
Use the calculator above first. Then check the SSS Salary Loan Hub if you need guides about loan statement, voucher, approval, or release timing.
Common reasons include a lower average Regular SSS MSC, having only 36–71 total posted contributions, an outstanding loan balance, applicable fees and pro-rated interest, or entering the wrong contribution type for your member category.
For a more complete explanation, open Why is my SSS salary loan amount lower than expected?
Yes. For voluntary, self-employed, OFW, non-working spouse, and similar self-paying member types, the contribution field is treated as the full contribution paid, not just employee share.
If you are not sure which contribution amount matches your MSC, use the SSS Contribution Calculator first, then return to this salary loan calculator.
Yes. After calculating, this page estimates your monthly amortization, total payable, service fee, net proceeds, and a 24-month amortization table.
If you already have an approved loan and want to check your official SSS records, see how to view your monthly amortization schedule in the SSS loan statement.
It depends on your employment status, contribution posting, employer certification, and whether you still meet the salary loan requirements. Being on maternity leave does not automatically answer the whole question because eligibility and posting records still matter.
If this is your situation, read Can I apply for SSS salary loan while on maternity leave? and What happens to my SSS salary loan during maternity leave?
The usual rate is 8% per year for an initial Salary Loan or a renewal without penalty-condonation availment during the previous 5 years. A 10% annual rate applies to a renewal when penalty condonation was used within the previous 5 years. Both rates are computed on a diminishing principal balance.
The calculator above currently estimates the standard 8% rate. Your official SSS Disclosure Statement will show the rate and effective interest rate that apply to your approved loan.
SSS charges a 1% service fee based on the approved Salary Loan amount and deducts it from the proceeds. Pro-rated interest and any applicable outstanding balance from a previous member loan may also be deducted before the money is released.
The loan is generally repaid through 24 equal monthly amortizations. Late amortization payments may incur a 1% monthly penalty computed according to the number of days delayed.
Need money before your SSS Salary Loan is released?
If your SSS loan is still pending, delayed, or lower than expected, you may want a backup option for urgent expenses. A credit card can help only if used carefully and paid on time.
