SSS Maternity Guide

How Many Children or Pregnancies Are Covered by SSS Maternity Benefits?

There is no fixed 4-child limit. This guide also explains what “No. of Pregnancies” means in SSS and how many times a qualified member may claim.

Quick answer

There is no fixed 4-child limit for SSS maternity benefit.

A qualified female member may receive SSS maternity benefit for every qualified childbirth, miscarriage, or emergency termination of pregnancy.

However, each new maternity event must still meet the SSS qualifying-period, contribution, notification, filing, and document requirements.

What does “No. of Pregnancies” mean in SSS?

“No. of Pregnancies” means the total number of times you have been pregnant. It is not necessarily the same as the number of living children you currently have.

Include previous pregnancies that ended in childbirth or miscarriage when SSS asks for your total pregnancy count.

Example: If you had two childbirths and one miscarriage, your number of pregnancies is three—even if you currently have two living children.

Maaaring mag-claim sa bawat qualified childbirth, miscarriage, o emergency termination of pregnancy. Pero kailangang qualified pa rin ang bawat bagong claim base sa qualifying period, posted contributions, notification, at filing requirements.

Children, pregnancies, and maternity claims

SSS term Meaning
Number of children How many children you have.
Number of living children Children who are currently living.
Number of pregnancies Every pregnancy, including pregnancies that ended in miscarriage.
Number of maternity claims Maternity events for which a claim was filed.
Twins or triplets One childbirth event, not one separate claim per baby.

How many times or ilang beses can I claim?

There is no fixed lifetime limit such as only four claims. You may claim again for another pregnancy or maternity event if you meet the requirements for that new claim.

Each claim is checked separately. A previous approved claim does not automatically approve the next one.

Taglish: Walang fixed na apat na claims lang. Puwede kang mag-claim ulit sa panibagong maternity event kung qualified ka para sa bagong claim.

What if I give birth to twins or triplets?

Twins, triplets, or other multiple births are treated as one childbirth event. SSS pays one maternity benefit for that delivery, not one separate claim per baby.

Does SSS maternity benefit cover miscarriage or ETP?

Yes. Miscarriage or emergency termination of pregnancy may qualify if the member meets the requirements for that claim.

What should you check next?

  1. Confirm the EDD or actual childbirth, miscarriage, or ETP month.
  2. Check the correct qualifying period.
  3. Review posted contributions in My.SSS.
  4. Estimate the possible maternity benefit amount.
  5. Prepare the required filing, documents, and payout account.
