SSS Maternity Next-Step Tool

SSS Maternity Benefit After Resignation Checker

Yes — resignation or unemployment does not automatically cancel your SSS maternity benefit. What matters is whether you meet the maternity qualifying rules and which filing/document path applies after separation.

This checker reviews your EDD, former-employer advance payment, separation date, MAT-1 status, and posted qualifying-period contributions.

Quick answer

If you qualify, SSS can pay you directly after separation. Your former Employee contributions do not disappear just because you resigned.

If the maternity event happens within six months from separation, additional separation documents may be required.

Taglish quick answer

Expected delivery date

The EDD determines the qualifying period used for the contribution timeline.

Use the month and year shown by your doctor or ultrasound.

Employer payment and MAT-1

Confirm whether the employer already advanced the SSS maternity benefit.

Do not include regular salary, salary differential, company leave pay, or another employer benefit.
Full payment received: Do not file another full claim for the same maternity event. The employer normally handles reimbursement from SSS.

Official separation date

Use the effective date on the resignation acceptance, contract-end notice, termination record, or employer document.

Select the EDD first. The available dates will match the relevant pregnancy timeline.
Complete the separation date to check whether the six-month document rule may apply.

Posted contribution timeline

Confirm the actual posted status for all 12 qualifying-period months.

Months before separation are suggested as Employee. The separation month must be checked. Later months start as No Contribution and should be changed only when actually paid and posted.

Your decision and next steps

This checker provides guidance. Final qualification depends on the official posted contribution record, payment timing, maternity notification, claim documents, and SSS evaluation.

What happens to your maternity benefit after resignation?

Resignation or separation does not erase contributions that were already validly posted. Former Employee contributions and later member-paid contributions may both count when they fall inside the qualifying period and are properly posted.

For a qualified member who is already separated from employment or currently unemployed, SSS pays the maternity benefit directly to the member through the approved disbursement account, subject to the applicable claim requirements.

When can separation documents be required?

If the delivery, miscarriage, or ETP happens during the employment period or within six months from the effective date of separation, SSS may require a Certificate of Separation showing the effective separation date and that no advance maternity payment was granted by the former employer.

When the certificate cannot be obtained for an SSS-recognized reason, the Affidavit of Undertaking – Non-Receipt of Advance Payment may be the substitute-document path.

After Resignation FAQ

Yes. Resignation alone does not cancel maternity entitlement. You still need to meet the contribution, notification and claim requirements.

Oo, posible pa rin kung qualified ka. Hindi automatic na nawawala ang maternity benefit dahil nag-resign ka o unemployed ka na. SSS can directly pay a qualified separated or unemployed member, subject to the required contributions, maternity notification, claim documents, and approved disbursement account.

For a qualified member who is already separated or currently unemployed, SSS can pay the maternity benefit directly through the approved disbursement account.

They may count when they fall inside the applicable qualifying period and are validly posted. Resigning does not erase those posted Employee contributions.

You may continue contributing under the membership category that correctly applies to you, but a new payment only helps when that contribution month is still valid and can be posted under SSS payment rules. Do not assume an old expired month can be paid retroactively.

Optional credit alternative

Need another credit option while waiting for maternity funds?

A credit card is separate from your SSS maternity benefit. If you are comparing another credit option, review eligibility, fees, interest and repayment capacity first.
