OFW Return-Home Tool

Can I Afford to Come Home for Good?

Start with what SSS may give you. Then see what your family may still need each month and which path is worth exploring next.

No need to enter your total savings.

Start with three simple details

Rough estimates are fine. You can change the numbers anytime.

Use what you think the household will actually need in the Philippines—not automatically your current OFW salary.

Calculate it without losing this page

The pension calculator opens in a new tab. This planner stays open so you can come back and enter the result below.

Open SSS Pension Calculator in New Tab
Enter the estimate you already know, or come back from the pension calculator and type it here.

This first check does not ask what you own, your bank balance, or your total savings. It only compares your expected household need with your SSS pension.

What would still need to come from somewhere else?

This is where the planner becomes a guide—not just a calculator.

What would you like help with next?

Choose the closest answer. You are not committing to anything.

1. Know what SSS can realistically cover. You already have that starting number above.
2. Decide whether you still want to work after coming home. A local or remote income can reduce how much must come from business, property or savings.
3. Test before depending on a business or property. Look for paying customers or real rental numbers while you still have time to change direction.
4. Use long-term savings only for money you will not need soon. A five-year product such as MP2 fits better when a complete five-year period is available.

If work alone covers everything SSS does not, you would need about ₱0/month from local work, remote work or consulting.

Before leaving the overseas job:

  • List the skills you can sell in the Philippines or remotely.
  • Check realistic pay before depending on it.
  • If the expected pay is lower than the number above, combine work with another source.
Check OWWA Reintegration / Job Support
If the business is expected to cover everything SSS does not, it would eventually need to leave you about ₱0/month after business expenses.

Use that number as a test—not a promise.

  • Who will actually pay for the product or service?
  • Can you test demand while you are still abroad or with a smaller amount first?
  • Can the business realistically leave the amount above after rent, salaries, supplies and other costs?
  • Do not depend on full profit from the first month.

Property only helps this plan if it actually leaves money after regular costs. Test a property you are truly considering instead of using a generic return percentage.

Use your own estimate for dues, repairs allowance, management and other regular costs. Vacancy is not guessed here.

You do not need to enter your total savings. Enter only money you would be comfortable setting aside for this MP2 illustration.

Planning illustration only. It uses a 7.12% annual reference rate and complete five-year periods. Future MP2 dividends can be different. The monthly comparison simply spreads the illustrated amount over 15 years; it is not a lifetime pension.

A mix can be easier than asking one source to replace the full OFW income. Enter only amounts you have a real reason to expect.

Returning soon and setting up your Philippine finances?

A credit card is not retirement income or business capital. But if you are returning soon, have a valid Philippine billing address and meet the bank's requirements, it may be useful for normal spending and payment convenience.

What this planner can—and cannot—tell you

SSS pension: calculate it. Use the site's main SSS Pension Calculator for the pension formula and contribution-history logic.
MP2: illustrate it. If a complete five-year period fits, test only the amount you are comfortable setting aside.
Business: set a target, then validate the idea. The planner can show how much monthly profit would be needed, but it cannot predict whether a business will succeed.
Property: test the actual rent and costs. Do not rely on a generic return percentage when real rent, expenses and vacancy matter.

Why we don't ask for your total savings

You do not need to reveal everything you have just to plan your return. The first calculation only needs your expected household spending and estimated SSS pension.

If you later test MP2, enter only the amount you are comfortable setting aside. If you test property, enter only the rent and costs of that property. If you test a business, the planner shows the monthly profit target instead of asking how much money you own.

Not sure whether you should work, start a business or do both?

OWWA reintegration support is designed for returning OFWs and can help with employment, skills and enterprise paths. Use the planner above to understand the number you need to solve, then use official support to explore the path itself.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, because SSS is the starting income source in this planner. If you do not know it, open the SSS Pension Calculator in a new tab, then come back and enter the estimate.

The planner does not need your full savings amount to show what SSS may not cover. It asks about money only when you choose to test a specific option such as an MP2 amount you are comfortable setting aside.

No. It helps you understand what a business or rental property would need to contribute toward your household needs. The actual choice still depends on real customers, location, costs, skills and other factors.
