The 105-Day Maternity Leave is the standard number of compensable days granted to eligible female SSS members who give birth, whether by normal delivery or cesarean section. This rule was introduced under the Expanded Maternity Leave Law to strengthen maternal health protection and financial support.
The benefit allows mothers to recover physically and mentally while caring for their newborns without the pressure of returning to work early. Employers advance the full maternity benefit to employees and later reimburse it from SSS, as long as requirements are properly filed.
Mothers who qualify as solo parents receive an additional 15 days, for a total of 120 days. These extended benefits reflect the government’s effort to support working women and reduce income disruption during childbirth.
Hospital delivery in the Philippines can easily cost ₱60,000 - ₱200,000 depending on the hospital and type of delivery.
Many parents use a credit card to manage these expenses while waiting for their SSS maternity benefits.
