SSS – Employee Compensation

Occupational Disease

An Occupational Disease is an illness included in the ECC’s official list of work-related sicknesses. If an employee is diagnosed with one of these diseases and meets specific work exposure criteria, the illness is automatically presumed work-related for EC claims.

Examples include hearing loss from loud environments, lung diseases from chemical exposure, and musculoskeletal disorders from repetitive work. Employees diagnosed with listed diseases may receive EC medical and income benefits.

The concept of occupational disease helps ensure fair compensation for workers exposed to harmful job conditions.
