SSS – Employee Compensation

Work-Related Sickness

Work-Related Sickness refers to illnesses caused by workplace conditions, exposure to harmful substances, or repetitive tasks inherent to the employee’s occupation. The ECC maintains a list of occupational diseases where claims are presumed work-related if the employee's work environment plausibly caused the illness.

Employees diagnosed with a sickness on the ECC list may receive EC benefits such as medical services, daily income benefit, and reimbursement of expenses. For diseases not listed, employees must prove that workplace conditions significantly contributed to the illness.

This concept helps protect workers from the health risks associated with modern workplaces, ensuring that illnesses arising from employment conditions are treated fairly and compensated properly.
