The 7 main SSS benefits
SSS currently lists seven core benefits: Sickness, Maternity, Disability, Retirement, Death, Funeral and Unemployment.
Quick eligibility comparison

|---|---|
| Sickness | At least 4 days unable to work + at least 3 contributions in the applicable 12-month qualifying period |
| Maternity | At least 3 contributions in the correct qualifying period |
| Disability | Permanent disability + at least 1 contribution paid before the semester of disability; 36 contributions for monthly pension |
| Retirement | Age 60 optional retirement if separated/ceased, or age 65 technical retirement; 120 contributions for monthly pension |
| Death | Identify the qualified beneficiary; 36 contributions before the semester of death for a primary-beneficiary monthly pension |
| Funeral | You paid the funeral expenses; 1–35 contributions gives a fixed PHP 12,000, while 36+ may give PHP 20,000–PHP 60,000 |
| Unemployment | Involuntary separation + under age 60 + 36 total contributions, including 12 in the prior 18 months |
These are only first-screening rules. Each benefit has additional filing, timing and documentary requirements.
SSS benefits at a glance
The finder identifies the most likely benefit. This table shows the main payment basis and the first qualification point worth checking before opening the detailed calculator.
| Benefit | How SSS generally pays it | Important first check |
|---|---|---|
| Sickness | Daily cash allowance equal to 90% of ADSC for approved compensable days | At least 4 days of confinement/inability to work and 3 qualifying contributions |
| Maternity | 100% of ADSC for 105, 120 or 60 compensable days, depending on the case | At least 3 contributions in the applicable 12-month qualifying period |
| Disability | Monthly pension or lump sum depending on disability assessment and contribution history | At least 1 contribution before the semester of disability; 36 for monthly pension |
| Retirement | Lifetime monthly pension with 120 contributions, otherwise lump sum | Age 60 optional retirement if separated/ceased, or age 65 technical retirement |
| Death | Monthly survivorship pension or lump sum to qualified beneficiaries | Beneficiary class and whether the member had 36 contributions before the semester of death |
| Funeral | PHP 12,000 for 1–35 contributions; variable PHP 20,000–PHP 60,000 for 36+ | The claimant must have actually defrayed the funeral expenses |
| Unemployment | 50% of AMSC for a maximum of 2 months | Under age 60, involuntary separation, 36 total contributions and 12 in the prior 18 months |
These are screening summaries only. Special age rules, overlap rules, prescriptive periods, medical evaluation, beneficiary rules and documentary requirements may still apply.
Benefits vs SSS loans
SSS Salary Loan and Calamity Loan are useful member privileges, but they are loans that must be repaid. They are not the same as the seven core SSS cash benefits above.

What if the illness, injury or death is work-related?
The Employees' Compensation Program is separate from the Regular SSS benefit program. It can cover qualified work-related sickness, injury, disability or death, including separate EC income, medical, rehabilitation, death and funeral benefits.
