Nicky Wong is the editor and creator of SSS Maternity Benefits Calculator.
The site began during his wife’s first pregnancy. While trying to understand how much SSS maternity benefit their family could receive, Nicky found that calculating the benefit, identifying the correct qualifying period, understanding contributions, and preparing documents could quickly become confusing.
What started as a personal need became a much larger project. While studying the maternity benefit process, he realized that expecting parents also needed clearer guidance for maternity notification, MAT-1, MAT-2, MBA/MBRA filing, and other supporting requirements. Many families only begin looking into these requirements close to delivery or after the baby is born, when they already have many other things to think about.
SSS Maternity Benefits Calculator was created to make that preparation easier. The goal is to help mothers and families estimate possible benefits, understand which contributions may count, identify the qualifying period, prepare requirements earlier, understand filing steps, and avoid unnecessary last-minute surprises.
The Inspiration Behind the Site
Our first child, Jhio, was the reason this project started and he continues to be my inspiration to keep improving it.
Seeing Jhio grow, laugh, and discover the world reminds me why helping expecting families prepare earlier matters. Becoming a parent brings many new responsibilities, but it also brings moments of happiness that are difficult to put into words. For me, Jhio is truly a gift from heaven and a constant source of joy.
