SSS – Survivorship

Claimant

A Claimant is an individual who files for SSS benefits on behalf of themselves or another eligible dependent. Claimants may include the legal spouse, dependent children, parents, guardians, designated beneficiaries, or legal heirs. Each claimant must present proof of identity, filiation, and relationship to the deceased member.

SSS carefully validates all claimant documents to prevent fraud and ensure that benefits follow the correct beneficiary hierarchy.

Understanding the claimant’s role helps families prepare documents properly and avoid delays in receiving benefits.
