SSS – Survivorship

Remarriage Rule for Survivorship Pension

The Remarriage Rule states that a surviving spouse receiving an SSS survivorship pension will lose entitlement upon remarriage or entering a new legally recognized marital union. This rule ensures that pension support is provided only when the spouse remains dependent and without support from a new partner.

When a spouse is disqualified, dependent children continue to receive their respective shares. The pension amount is recalculated accordingly.

Understanding this rule helps spouses make informed decisions regarding remarriage and financial planning.
