For a complete individual-member Maternity Benefit Application (MBA), the SSS 2026 Citizen’s Charter lists a total processing time of 7 working days for live childbirth or stillbirth/fetal death.
For miscarriage or emergency termination of pregnancy (ETP), the published total processing time is 20 working days because medical evaluation of the supporting documents is part of the process.
Important: These are SSS processing standards for a complete transaction. They are not a guarantee that the money will already appear in your bank or e-wallet on the same day. Approval, release and crediting are different stages.

The most useful benchmark depends on your claim type. Avoid using one fixed number for every maternity case.

Working days exclude ordinary weekends and applicable non-working holidays. A correction, missing document, failed payout, or other unresolved issue can place the case outside the clean standard flow.
What does your maternity claim status mean?
Before counting days, check the actual stage. Many members count from the wrong point in the process.
Submitted / transaction number received
Your filing was sent successfully. Keep the transaction number and monitor My.SSS and your registered email.
Pending / for processing
The claim is still being evaluated or processed. Check whether the case requires medical review, employer action, document correction, or another verification step.
Approved
The claim passed the approval stage. This does not automatically mean the money is already visible in the payout account.
Released / for disbursement
The issue is now closer to payout than approval. Check DAEM, bank/e-wallet posting, or employer handling.
Rejected / returned / needs correction
Do not simply restart the same filing. Fix the exact rejection or correction reason first.
Already approved but no payment?
That is no longer mainly an approval question. Check the payout/release stage and your DAEM account.
Why can approval take longer?
A claim can move outside the clean published processing standard when SSS still needs something to evaluate or correct.
Incomplete or unclear documents
Blurred, incomplete, wrong or missing supporting documents can prevent normal processing.
Medical evaluation
Miscarriage and ETP claims include medical evaluation, which is why the published standard is longer.
Member-record mismatch
Differences in the member record, civil-registry documents, or submitted details may require correction or review.
Employer-side dependency
Employed and some separated-member cases can involve employer notification, certification, advance payment or reimbursement steps.
DAEM is not ready
For direct payment, an approved disbursement account is required. A DAEM problem is separate from claim qualification.
Special or reconsidered case
Denied claims reconsidered for payment and other special cases follow a different review process.

For a qualified currently employed member, the employer advances the full SSS maternity benefit within 30 days from the filing of the maternity leave application. SSS then reimburses the employer after the applicable reimbursement requirements are satisfied.
Because of this, an employee should not automatically compare her waiting time with the 7-working-day individual-member MBA standard. Ask HR whether the maternity leave application, advance payment, and employer-side SSS steps have already been completed.
