Good day! Ma'am/Sir

I would like to ask about my eligibility for maternity benefits.

I started working in October 2025, and my SSS contributions were from October 2025 to February 2026, for a total of five (5) monthly contributions. I filed my maternity leave during the last week of February because I gave birth in March 2026.

At that time, our HR informed me that I was not eligible because I only had five contributions, and they said six monthly contributions were required.

I have now returned to work, and my baby is already four months old. I would like to ask if it is still possible for me to apply for or refile my maternity benefit now that I have continued working.

I would appreciate your guidance on whether I am still eligible and what steps I need to take.

Mommy, based sa March 2026 delivery, ang qualifying period mo is October 2024 to September 2025.

For SSS maternity benefit, hindi po 6 months ang minimum requirement. Ang rule is at least 3 paid contributions, pero dapat nasa tamang qualifying period before the semester of delivery.

Since ang hulog mo ay October 2025 to February 2026, hindi na po sila counted for March 2026 delivery kasi nasa semester of contingency na po sila. Contributions paid within or after the semester of contingency are not considered for maternity qualification/computation.

So simple answer:
Kung wala kang hulog from October 2024 to September 2025, possible po na hindi ka qualified sa SSS maternity benefit for March 2026 delivery. Continuing to work now will not change the qualifying period for that past delivery.

But you can still ask HR or SSS to check officially, lalo na kung may older SSS contributions ka before October 2025.

Hi mommy 😊 For EDD May 2027, ang qualifying period mo ay January–December 2026, so July 2026 ✅ counted sa MatBen computation.

Kung Voluntary/NWS member ka, puwede pa ang July contribution as part of the July–September quarter, payable on or before end of September 2026 this is for Matben Due date pero normaly sa SSS contribution kapag nag Generate ka ng PRN ang lalabas na Due date is on or before end of October. Kung Matben claim ka Mommy make sure mahulugan mo yan on or before end of September or as early as possible bago matapos ang last month ng Qualifying Period mo.

Kung Self-Employed ang membership type mo, sabihin mo lang mommy dahil iba ang current payment deadline rule natin iche-check.

EDD ko November 22, 2026 private employed kailan ko po makukuha yung maternity benefits ko

Hi mommy 😊 Since private employed ka, employer mo ang mag-a-advance ng SSS maternity benefit.

For EDD November 22, 2026, ang qualifying period mo ay July 2025–June 2026. If qualified ka based sa contributions mo, ang full maternity benefit should be advanced by the employer within 30 days from the filing of your maternity leave application.

So hindi po automatic na after November 22 mo pa makukuha. Ang timing depends sa date na officially na-file mo ang maternity leave application sa employer/HR.

You can ask HR:
“Kailan po considered filed ang maternity leave application ko, and kailan po target release ng advance MatBen?”

Possible po ba na ako na lang mag file ng MAT1 kesa si employer?

Hi mommy 😊 Kung currently employed ka, employer/HR po talaga ang dapat mag-file/transmit ng MAT-1 sa SSS. Ikaw muna ang mag-notify sa employer tungkol sa pregnancy at EDD, then sila ang mag-submit through their Employer My.SSS account.

Ang direct online MAT-1 filing sa member account ay para sa Voluntary, Self-Employed, OFW, at Non-Working Spouse members.

So kung Employee ka pa, mas safe na dumaan sa HR/employer para tama ang record at walang issue later sa MatBen claim. 😊
