SSS – Sickness

Semester of Sickness

The Semester of Sickness is the two-quarter (six-month) period in which the sickness occurs. Contributions paid within the semester are excluded when determining eligibility and computing the benefit. To compute the semester, SSS identifies the quarter of illness and includes the immediately preceding quarter. Understanding this rule helps members check if they have at least three valid contributions within the correct 12-month lookback period.
