The highest six Monthly Salary Credits (MSC) refer to the top six salary credit values within the 12-month qualifying period that SSS uses for computing daily benefits. Whether for sickness or maternity, SSS selects only the highest MSC values to reflect the member’s best earnings during the period.
These six MSCs are added together and divided by 180 to compute the Average Daily Salary Credit (ADSC). Because of this method, months with lower contributions may not affect the computation as long as six higher months are available.
Maintaining consistent contribution levels helps ensure higher MSC values appear in the qualifying period, resulting in improved benefit payouts. Sudden decreases in MSC can negatively affect the computed amounts.
Hospital delivery in the Philippines can easily cost ₱60,000 - ₱200,000 depending on the hospital and type of delivery.
Many parents use a credit card to manage these expenses while waiting for their SSS maternity benefits.
